Garden Center Associates work in a unique semi-outdoor environment watering live plants, building merchandising displays of patio furniture and grills, assisting customers with planting advice, and managing the constant flow of seasonal inventory that makes this one of the most dynamic department assignments at Walmart.

Position Overview

Walmart is hiring Garden Center Associates to manage live plant care, outdoor merchandise presentation, and customer service in the seasonal garden department at Supercenter locations. You will water and maintain live plant inventory, stock seasonal outdoor products, build patio furniture and grill displays, and help customers select plants, soil, and gardening supplies for their home landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

• Water and care for live plant inventory including flowers, shrubs, trees, vegetables, and herbs maintaining freshness and reducing shrink.
• Stock seasonal outdoor merchandise including grills, patio furniture, garden tools, soil, mulch, and lawn care chemicals.
• Assist customers with plant selection, planting guidance, watering schedules, and garden pest management recommendations.
• Assemble display grills, patio furniture sets, and outdoor structures per manufacturer instructions and Walmart assembly standards.
• Maintain garden center organization including clean aisles, proper signage, functioning irrigation systems, and secure outdoor fencing.

Qualifications & Benefits

Must be 16+ years of age. No prior garden or horticulture experience required — product knowledge develops naturally through hands-on seasonal work. Must be comfortable working outdoors in heat, sun, and occasional rain. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs including bags of soil and mulch.
